Tokyo Inn Ideal

If I were to spend a lengthy vacation in Tokyo Japan my ideal accommodations would be either a cheap rented apartment or a Tokyo Inn, the old fashioned kind (preferably a Tokyo Inn with onsen). I realize that much of Tokyo, like much of the rest of the world, has been very westernized, and since a lot of visitors to Tokyo expect western comfort over authentic Tokyo experience or authentic Japanese experience, that it can be increasingly difficult to find this kind of accommodation for a reasonable price. But I think if I could afford it that it would be well worth it.

Tokyo Inn expectations

Realistically, even with all of the research about Tokyo and the kind of Tokyo Inn I would like to stay in that I have done, it is still very likely that I have some expectations about a Tokyo Inn that would be unfounded. Perhaps I will be surprised about the level of westernization; perhaps a Tokyo Inn would be even more westernized than I think, perhaps less. Perhaps the food would be more expensive, or cheaper. Perhaps they would be larger or smaller or stranger than I anticipate. But overall, I think I have done a good job in trying to tailor my expectations not only to the kind of Tokyo Inn I want to stay in, but to the different types and levels of Tokyo Inn generally available for the kind of money that I would be willing to pay.

Tokyo Inn satisfaction

But in the end, because of my optimism and my love of Japan and Japanese it is likely that no matter what my experience I will leave whatever Tokyo Inn that I stay at mostly satisfied. And that is probably good enough. After all, I know myself well enough to know that I am not the kind of traveler that would just spend the whole time in my room in a Tokyo Inn, no matter how nice a Tokyo Inn it is. And if you don't spend all day in your room in a Tokyo Inn, how bad can your complaints be? If you are only there to stay at night and in the morning, most of the time spent and most of the memories made will be in the heart of Tokyo itself. And then your love or your disappointment will be with Tokyo itself. No need to blame the Tokyo Inn.
